Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Arbeloa has insisted that it will be “very special” to face his former club Liverpool at Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Spaniard joined Los Blancos from the Reds in 2009 after spending two seasons on Merseyside.

And Arbeloa, who is aware of the atmosphere at Anfield on Champions League nights, told his Real Madrid team-mates to enjoy the game at his former stomping ground.

“Going back to Liverpool after five years will be very special”, he told UEFA’s official site.

“I played at Anfield, so it will be great. But not just for me. I have told my team-mates to enjoy the match at Anfield as much as possible.

“Champions League nights and big games like this one at Anfield are very special.”

Arbeloa, who reached the 2007 Champions League final with Liverpool, further added that he is expecting a tough encounter against the English giants.

“We're going to be up against a team that will come out to fight to the last and will give everything, because they need to win too”, he continued.

Arbeloa’s side, who thrashed Levante 5-0 in La Liga at the weekend, are currently atop Group B of the Champions League with six points from two games, following their victories over FC Basel and Ludogorets Razgrad.
