Liverpool have been handed a boost and Real Madrid a blow after it emerged that Gareth Bale will miss Wednesday's Champions League match at Anfield.

The Welshman has been ruled out of the Liverpool game through injury, according to French sports daily L'Equipe.

Bale is also doubtful for Real Madrid's El Clasico clash against Barcelona this coming weekend.

Los Blancos will hope that with Bale sitting out the meeting with Liverpool he has an outside chance of featuring against Barcelona.

However, losing the Welsh forward is still a big blow for Los Blancos.
