Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal feels that his side played their best game of the season this evening against West Brom, but has expressed his disappointment at the match ending in a 2-2 draw at the Hawthornes.

Manchester United saw themselves fall behind after just eight minutes in the game when Stephane Sessegnon curled the ball home with a well-taken finish.

Red Devils boss Van Gaal quickly decided to throw Marouane Fellaini into the fray as the first half ticked down and the Belgian came on in the second half.

He quickly made his presence felt, drawing the visitors level in the 48th minute.

West Brom took the lead again however, Saido Berahino breaking through the Manchester United defence and steering the ball past David de Gea in the 66th minute.

But the Red Devils, who dominated possession and did not concede a corner to West Brom all night, hit back, with Daley Blind hitting a well-placed drive with just three minutes left in the game to secure a share of the spoils for Manchester United.

Van Gaal was left disappointed after the match however, telling Sky Sports: "I'm very disappointed because we played our best match of the season and the result is not good enough.

"I think we could have won, but could have doesn't count in our world.

"I have to also be happy because we created a lot of chances and only two shots from West Brom, which were goals.

"We gave it away with individual errors. And that's a pity because you can have a new start when you win here", he added.
