Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen believes that his team can take the positives out of the Manchester City game and build on it during the rest of the season.

The Lilywhites were humbled 4-1 by the Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, with Tottenham defender Federico Fazio being sent off on his league debut.

Eriksen, who scored Tottenham's only goal of the match, refuses to ponder upon the negatives and wants his team to concentrate on the key moments throughout the match.

He also added that had striker Roberto Soldado not been denied from the penalty spot by Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, they would have been in the game even more.

“We were in the game for long periods”, the 22-year-old told his club's official site while reflecting on the match.

"If Robbie [Soldado] was luckier with the penalty we would have been in the game even more.

“These are the key moments and if we don’t score ourselves, they have the players to score and unlucky for us, they did that.

“But I think we can build on this performance, especially in the first half and the beginning of the second half.

“I think we were getting tired towards the end and it’s never easy when you are down to ten men.

“We tried, sometimes we had good solutions, sometimes we could have kept the ball more but again, we can build on this.”

The Lilywhites take on Greek outfit Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League next on Thursday.
