Wesley Sneijder has revealed his delight at being the match winner in the Istanbul derby on Saturday.

Two late long rangers from the Dutchman gave all three points to Galatasaray against their most bitter rivals Fenerbahce at the Turk Telekom Arena.

The Dutchman, who was coming into the game after a disappointing result with his national team against Iceland, turned out to be the hero for his club in a derby that saw three late goals.

Though Fenerbahce were reduced to ten men after Bruno Alves was sent off for violent conduct, Sneijder said that time was running out for Galatasaray to utilise the advantage they had.

“Those balls were there to be hit”, the Dutchman told De Telegraaf.

“Though Bruno Alves was sent off, time was running out for us, so I decided to just shoot when I got the opportunities.”

Sneijder admits that the feeling inside the stadium was special after scoring two world class goals.

“You can only dream of the experience inside the stadium after scoring those two world class goals.

“I knew they were on target the moment those balls left my feet. You get those feelings sometimes.”

Galatasaray are second in the Turkish league table and a point behind league leaders Besiktas.
