Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is so impressed with summer signings Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas that he believes they could be at Stamford Bridge until 2021.

Mourinho pounced to purchase the pair in the last transfer window, drafting over Costa from Atletico Madrid and Fabregas from Barcelona.

He feels the arrival of the duo taught him an important lesson: that it is better to wait for the right player to become available rather than panic buy.

"It is good to wait for the right player instead of doing it [buying] if you are not happy, even if you do it [continue] without the right player", he told ITV.

"So wait until you can get the right one and if you can't do it in that moment, wait.

"So we wait for a striker, we wait for a midfield player, and we got Diego and we got Cesc. And I learned don't be in a hurry and wait for the right ones."

Mourinho feels as a result Chelsea have players who can fit into their side for up to the next seven years.

"It meant that we spend the right amount of money for the right profile of player we were looking for", the Portuguese explained.

"We think Diego and Fabregas are players for the next five, six, seven years at the club because they are so good and adapted to what we need."

Both Costa and Fabregas have been key men for the Blues this season, helping Chelsea sit top of the Premier League table with 22 points from eight games.
