Julian Draxler is hopeful that Schalke will improve under the stewardship of former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo.

The Italian took over from Jens Keller at Schalke earlier this month and won his first game in charge against Hertha Berlin 2-0 on Saturday in the Bundesliga.

Draxler, who scored the second goal to seal the win for Schalke, admits that in a short very period of time at the club, the Italian has made an impression on him and left him impressed with his methods.

And he is hopeful that the club will improve under the Champions League winning manager.

“I cannot say that I know him very well since he has been with us for a very short period of time”, Draxler was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

“But I am really excited by his style of play.

“He is an excellent trainer, who has coached at a big club like Chelsea and hopefully he will improve us.”

Di Matteo will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins as Schalke take on Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League later tonight.
