Liverpool forward Rickie Lambert believes his side can bag the full three points against Real Madrid in a Champions League fixture at Anfield tomorrow.

The Reds, who returned to the continental competition after a gap of five years, have endured an unconvincing start to the present campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’ men are currently fifth in the Premier League and are in third spot in Group B of the Champions League with three points from two games, following their 1-0 loss to FC Basel earlier in the month.

However Lambert, who feels the Merseyside giants will be highly motivated to face the Spanish heavyweights, also expects the Liverpool faithful to be in full swing at Anfield.

"This is Liverpool Football Club and this is where we are supposed to be", the England international told the club’s official site.

"We've been away from the competition for a few years, but this squad definitely feels at home on nights like this. Games don't come bigger than against Real Madrid.

"On any given day, we can beat anyone, especially at home. When the fans are in full voice, which I know they will be against Real Madrid in the Champions League, we're unstoppable at times.”

Lambert, who joined Liverpool from Southampton in the summer, further recalled the incident when his present employers hosted Real Madrid at Anfield in 2009, with the Reds thrashing Los Blancos 4-0.

"I can remember watching the 4-0 win. I was in my mum and dad's house in Kirkby. I was confident that we were going to win, but obviously I didn't see the scoreline coming”, he continued.

“We absolutely battered them that day. It was one of the great nights of European football at Anfield."
