Paris Saint-Germain were so desperate to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool this summer that they were willing to swap Edinson Cavani for his countryman.

The French champions chased Suarez over the summer when it became clear that Liverpool were willing to listen to offers for the striker.

And according to France Football, PSG were willing to allow Cavani to head to Anfield in exchange for Suarez.

However, Suarez was only willing to join Barcelona, something he made clear and which then ended PSG's interest.

Liverpool eventually sold Suarez to the Catalan giants, while Cavani stayed put at the Parc des Princes.

The Reds signed Mario Balotelli from AC Milan for £16m in an effort to replace Suarez's goals.

However, the Italian has yet to hit the back of the net in the Premier League and has been criticised for his performances.

Suarez meanwhile is all set to make his Barcelona debut this coming weekend against Real Madrid in El Clasico.
