Barcelona star Lionel Messi has insisted that he is relishing his strike partnership with Neymar, following his side’s 3-1 win over Ajax in the Champions League last night.

The diminutive Argentine, who is just two goals away from becoming the all-time top goalscorer in La Liga, provided the assist for Neymar’s goal in the seventh minute before finding the back of the net himself 17 minutes later.

Although Anwar El Ghazi reduced the deficit for Ajax in the 88th minute, Sandro Ramirez’s injury-time strike made sure Barcelona came out of the fixture at the Camp Nou with the full three points.

And Messi, who has now scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in 11 games in all competitions for the Catalan giants this season, explained that he wants his partnership with Neymar to prosper further.

“It is good that Neymar and I are in form together, looking for each other with the ball, and having fun”, he told UEFA’s official site.

“It is done for the good of the team. It is done so that the team can win.

“That is the crucial thing. Of course I hope that Neymar and I can continue playing like this and enjoying it.”

Neymar has also been in fine form for Barcelona this season, scoring 10 goals in as many games.
