Brendan Rodgers is wary of Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal threat for Real Madrid, but said that he is more concerned about Liverpool’s plans against the European champions.

The Reds host Real Madrid later tonight at Anfield in their Group B fixture and they will be looking forward to a positive result at home to further their ambition of qualifying for the last 16.

Ronaldo has already scored twice in the Champions League this season and Rodgers is aware of the Portuguese’s love for scoring bags of goals.

"He is arguably the best player in the world at the moment”, the Liverpool manager told the BBC.

"And his evolution from being a soloist who scores goals to a goalscorer is there to see", said Rodgers of Ronaldo.
