AC Milan midfielder Michael Essien has insisted that he will play in any position on the pitch that his manager wants him to play.

The former Chelsea player managed his fourth Serie A appearance for the Rossoneri this season, as his team ran out 3-1 victors against Hellas Verona this weekend.

Managing only nine appearances in the latter half of last season, having joined the Rossoneri in January, the 31-year-old feels ecstatic to be finally back on the pitch for AC Milan this season.

He also stressed the importance of abiding by manager Fillipo Inzaghi's instructions, as he believes that the coach is the right person to make the decisions.

"The game against Verona was not easy but we gave our best and we came out on top. Personally, it was great to earn my starting place back on the pitch", Essien told his club's official site.

"I play where Inzaghi asks me to play. It doesn’t matter where. He is our coach and obviously he is important to us.

"He is doing a great job. He leaves us a lot of freedom on the pitch, he encourages us to fight in every situation and we play some good football."

AC Milan have had a positive start to their 2014/15 domestic season and are currently placed fourth in the league table with 14 points from seven matches.
