Loic Remy is optimistic about his availability for Chelsea’s trip to Old Trafford on Sunday after Jose Mourinho earlier ruled him out of the fixture.

The French international suffered a groin injury last night in Chelsea’s 6-0 Champions League win over NK Maribor at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho ruled both Remy and Diego Costa out for the clash against Manchester United, but the Frenchman is still optimistic that he can be fit for the trip to the north west of England.

Remy is waiting for the scan results and he himself believes that the injury is not too serious.

"We will see with the scan", Remy told ITV. "I really hope it is not too bad. Fortunately I stopped playing because I felt something.

"I don't think it is too bad but I felt something in my groin.

"Yes, it's frustrating of course because I had a chance to play because Costa is injured but I am not afraid.”

The former Queens Park Rangers striker is desperate to be fit for the trip to Old Trafford and wants to play some part in the big clash against the 20-time English champions.

"I don't think it is really bad. We will check and I really hope to play again this weekend.

"It is a huge game but every game is tough. Especially this one because it is a big game against a good opponent but I will try to recover as quickly as possible."
