Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is looking for his team to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners.

Arsenal are second on three points behind Borussia Dortmund in Group D and are looking forward to an away win against Anderlecht tonight to maintain the pressure on the Germans.

But Wilshere is keen for Arsenal to finish as group winners and qualify for the last 16. The Gunners finished second in their group behind Dortmund last season and were beaten by Bayern Munich in the first knockout round.

"That is the main goal, to win the group", the midfielder told the club’s official site.

"In the past years we have tried to do that, even though we have had a tough group, like we did last year.”

The Gunners opened their points account in the Champions League this season with a 4-1 win over Galatasaray at the Emirates earlier this month and Wilshere believes one more win later tonight will help them to consolidate their position in Group D.

"We will try our best to continue the performance from our last European game [against Galatasaray] to get the win out here and be in a stronger position to assess the group, then see what we can do in the last three games."

The last time Arsenal failed to qualify from the Champions League group stage was in the 2002/03 season. They were placed in Group B, alongside Ajax, Roma and Valencia.
