Lionel Messi is looking forward to Luis Suarez making his debut for Barcelona in El Clasico on Saturday.

The Uruguayan forward joined the Catalan giants from Liverpool this summer, but his FIFA ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup has stopped him from making his debut for the club.

Suarez is slated to make his competitive debut for the Blaugrana against their bitter rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu and Messi is keen to link up with the Uruguayan superstar.

“We are looking forward to the arrival of Suarez”, the Argentine told AS.

“He has suffered a lot for not being allowed to enter the pitch.”

Messi is a goal short of matching former Athletic Bilbao striker Telmo Zarra’s all-time goalscoring record of 251 goals in La Liga, but the Argentine is only thinking about getting all three points from the Bernabeu on Saturday.

“I will go there to do my best and win. It will not decide anything as there are lots of games still left to play but we will try to win.

“The most important thing is to win there and not Zarra’s record.”
