Cristiano Ronaldo says he is extremely proud to have scored his first goal at Anfield, as Real Madrid crushed Liverpool 3-0 in the Champions League.

Liverpool started quickly, trying to press and push Real Madrid back, but a moment of genius from Ronaldo, who got ahead of Martin Skrtel to half-volley a goal in the 23rd minute, knocked the Reds off their stride.

Real Madrid wasted no time in doubling their advantage, with Karim Benzema heading the ball home in the 30th minute.

Then Benzema prodded home in a scramble in the box in the 41st minute, putting the game beyond doubt.

Liverpool tightened up in the second half, bringing Mario Balotelli off, and the scoreline remained 3-0.

And Ronaldo, whose goal was his first at Anfield, was delighted with Real Madrid's victory and his achievement.

"It was special", he told Sky Sports.

"It was my first goal here in Anfield, so I'm very proud for that.

"We knew before the game that Anfield is a difficult place, but I think we played fantastic, especially in the first 45 minutes", Ronaldo added.

The Portuguese also feels Los Blancos are nearly qualified for the next round, adding: "We have nine points, 75 per cent of the qualification is done."
