Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson has come down heavily on Mario Balotelli after last night’s performance.

Liverpool slumped to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid last night at Anfield and Balotelli was substituted at half time after another poor performance.

The Italian swapped shirts with Real Madrid defender Pepe while the teams were coming off the pitch at the break, an incident that didn’t impress his Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.

And by the looks of it, the former Liverpool defender is also not overly impressed by Balotelli’s performance or his antics at half time.

Lawrenson bemoans the fact the Balotelli is still lacks the maturity of a top professional and said that he is still not ready to be a team player.

"Balotelli is 24 years old and a dad. Everybody thought it was time for him to settle down, but, if anything, he is getting worse", Lawrenson told BBC Radio 5 live.

"At Queens Park Rangers on Sunday he gave a non-performance, and then last night, it was sheer madness.

"It is all about Mario Balotelli. He lives in his own little world, but there is no 'I' in team. That sums him up."

After his £16m move from AC Milan to Liverpool this summer, the Italian has managed to score only once this season for his new club.
