Hull City attacking midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa believes he only has one chance left in football after using up all his credits, akin to if he was playing Super Mario.

Ben Arfa is under contract to Newcastle United, but has fallen out of favour at St. James' Park and joined Hull on a season-long loan in the summer.

The former Marseille man said last summer that: "I still believe that one day I will be the best player in the world." But now Ben Arfa is battling just to resurrect his career.

The Frenchman told Sport Confidentiel: "In the past I just thought to myself, I thought I was alone in the world.

"I am fragile, much too fragile.

"My career has been a wild game of Super Mario. I've used up my credits and now I've only been left with one life.

"I must fight well."

And the 27-year-old says he knows Newcastle will release him when his contract expires at the end of this season, something which means he must show his best in the current campaign.

"I've certainly got a lot of pressure knowing that at the end of the season I will be released, but I believe I will play for one of the biggest clubs in Europe."
