Lukas Podolski claims he knew he would score against Anderlecht last night because the ball was on his left foot.

With the score level at 1-1 in the Champions League clash and the match heading into injury time, the ball dropped to Podolski on his left foot, just six yards from goal.

The German swung his boot and blasted the ball into the back of the net, handing Arsenal a vital 2-1 win and three group stage points.

For Podolski, that he would score was almost certain, as his left foot is his guarantee of goals.

"When the ball is on my left foot I score 99 per cent of the time. It was a good moment for me and the fans because they support me all of the time", he explained to his club's site.

Despite the victory however, Podolski is at pains to stress that Arsenal have to do a job on Anderlecht once again in their next Champions League match to put themselves in the driving seat to reach the knockout round.

"We still have three games left and nothing is certain yet", he explained.

"We have an important game against Anderlecht at home and if we win that then I think we can go through."
