Celtic manager Ronny Deila believes his side were too ponderous in possession this evening against Romanian side FC Astra in the Europa League.

The Bhoys ran out 2-1 winners on the night at Celtic Park, but were made to work for their opener, which only arrived in the 73rd minute through Stefan Scepovic, who headed home from a free-kick.

Stefan Johansen quickly doubled Celtic's lead six minutes later, taking advantage of a rebound off the goalkeeper to drill the ball home.

FC Astra pulled one back in the 81st minute through Gabriel Enache, but Celtic saw out the game.

Deila was happy with the win, which moves Celtic on to seven points in their Europa League group, but does feel his side need to have more purpose with the ball instead of aimlessly passing it.

"I hoped the game was over at 2-0 but I'm very happy with the three points", he told reporters.

"We gave them chances with our slack passes and at times we had too many touches on the ball."

Deila was also pleased to see Scepovic score, feeling the Serbian deserved the strike.

"I kept Scepovic on because he was getting chances.

"He deserved his goal and I am very happy for him."
