Newcastle United are set to be boosted by the return of long-term injury absentee Ryan Taylor.

The midfielder was injured in August 2012, suffering a serious knee injury. He attempted a comeback in April 2013, but saw a similar issue put him back on the sidelines.

Taylor completed 90 minutes for Newcastle's Under-21 side recently and boss Alan Pardew has confirmed he is now in contention for a spot in the squad to face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Pardew was quoted as saying by ITV: "Ryan should return this week.
