Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has brushed off the opportunity to praise Angel di Maria, explaining he does not want to be drawn into speaking about players at rival clubs.

Mourinho was at Real Madrid when Di Maria arrived from Benfica, but on Sunday he must plot how to keep the winger quiet when his Chelsea side head to face the Argentine's new team, Manchester United, at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese was asked at a press conference for his view on Di Maria, but was reluctant to praise the winger ahead of the weekend clash.

"Don't ask me about players from other teams", Mourinho said, stony faced.

"I don't want to speak.

"If I bought Di Maria it was because I liked him.

"If he was fantastic in my period at Real Madrid – good.

"Now he plays for Manchester United and a little bit like with Louis [van Gaal], fantastic relationship, very good memories, during 90 minutes he wants to win and I want to win."

Di Maria has had a roaring start to his Manchester United career and will be aiming to do damage to Mourinho's Chelsea on Sunday.
