Dutch champions Ajax have been boosted in their attempt to win the race for Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard.

The 15-year-old Stromsgodset midfielder is wanted by a number of Europe's top clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

He has also received an invitation from Barcelona to tour the club's facilities ahead of a potential move to the Camp Nou.

But according to reports from Norway, Odegaard has now accepted a proposal from Ajax to visit their facilities, with the Dutch side hoping to convince the midfielder during his stay that a switch to the Netherlands is in his best long-term interests.

Ajax coach Frank de Boer offered Odegaard advice on Saturday, telling him to snub approaches from bigger clubs for the sake of his career.

"They aren't waiting in Madrid for a guy like Martin, he would probably be loaned and it would be a long time until he got his chance", De Boer said.

"In the Premier League the same would apply.

"If he has to make a choice he should come to Ajax.

"With us he can try to get into the first team."
