Carlos Tevez is back in the Argentina squad after a three-year absence, for friendlies against Croatia and Portugal next month.

The Juventus striker made his last appearance for the Albiceleste in their Copa America quarter-final defeat against Uruguay in 2011.

Alejandro Sabella never considered bringing back the former Manchester City striker to the squad in his three-year reign as the national team coach.

But his successor Gerardo Martino could not ignore Tevez’s form this season, which has seen him score eight goals in ten games for Juventus.

Martino also included Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero and Tottenham defender Federico Fazio in the Argentina squad.

Caballero is yet to earn a cap for Argentina and Fazio has made only two appearances for the national team.

Argentina will face Croatia on 11th November at Upton Park and meet Portugal at Old Trafford a week later.
