FIFA president Sepp Blatter feels that the decision to award the Golden Ball to Lionel Messi at the World Cup was wrong.

The Argentine maestro received the Player of the Tournament award after the World Cup final, where Germany beat Argentina to lift the trophy in Rio de Janeiro.




The decision to give the Golden Ball to Messi has been criticised and many felt there were more deserving candidates ahead of the Barcelona talisman.

Months after the World Cup ended the FIFA president has now decided to criticise the decision to give the award to Messi.
 


He feels that the selection committee were wrong and said that he was personally surprised with the decision.

“I think it was not the correct decision to reward the Argentine”, Blatter was quoted as saying by Tutto Mercato.

“I was surprised when I saw the decision of the board.”

Messi scored four goals and led the Argentina side to their first World Cup final in 24 years this summer in Brazil.
