Sao Paulo goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni has broken Ryan Giggs’ record of most wins as a player at a single club.

Sao Paulo’s 3-0 win over Goais on Monday was Ceni’s 590th triumph, the most by any player for a single club.

In doing so the former Brazilian national team shot-stopper went ahead of Welsh legend Giggs, who retired last season with 589 wins at Manchester United under his belt.

Since joining Sao Paulo in 1992, the goalkeeper has spent his entire career at the club and has made 1,135 appearances for the Brazilian giants.

He is also known for his goalscoring feats as a goalkeeper and has managed to score 123 goals in his career, mostly through penalties and free-kicks.

The 41-year-old has also captained Sao Paulo in 928 games, which is also a world record.

Ceni, who plans to retire in December, earned 16 caps for Brazil and won the 1997 Confederations Cup and the 2002 World Cup with the national team.
