Former Sweden international and Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Klas Ingesson has died at the age of just 46 years old.

Ingesson was diagnosed with incurable cancer in 2009, but had been coaching at Swedish side Elfsborg.




The midfielder started his career in his homeland with IFK Goteborg, but soon moved abroad to join Belgian outfit KV Mechelen.

 


Ingesson headed to PSV Eindhoven in 1993, but remained just a year before sealing a switch to English side Sheffield Wednesday.

The midfielder, who won 57 caps for Sweden between 1989 and 1998, also played for Bari, Bologna, Marseille and Lecce before hanging up his boots in 2001.

Ingesson was part of the Sweden side that finished third at the 1994 World Cup in the United States.
