The French Football Federation (FFF) has come out in support of Zinedine Zidane, who received a three-month suspension from the Spanish FA yesterday.

The Spanish FA suspended the former French international for taking charge of Real Madrid Castilla without the proper coaching qualifications.

Real Madrid stood behind their former player and coach and said that they will pursue ‘every available legal avenue’ to help Zidane.

And now the FFF made their position clear on the controversy surrounding the World Cup winner.

The FFF said that Zidane is pursuing his coaching badges under its supervision and said that the decision taken by the Spanish FA was unfortunate.

It also added that it has have sent all the necessary paperwork regarding Zidane’s coaching badges to the Spanish FA to clear his name.

"The FFF would like to reiterate its support for Zidane following the decision by the Spanish Commission to sanction him for not having the necessary coaching diploma", the FFF said in a statement.

"The fact that such an iconic player such as Zidane, who has decided to follow the internationally recognised French coach training system, is not able to carry out his duties as permitted by UEFA, is damaging to European football", FFF president, Noel Le Graet said in a statement.

“The FFF National Technical Directorate has sent the Spanish Federation all the relevant elements attesting to the fact that Zidane is pursuing all training modules with professionalism and diligence", the statement concluded.
