PSV Eindhoven attacking midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that he feels ready to leave the club next summer.

The 23-year-old, who has been linked with two clubs in the English Premier League over the last year, in the shape of Arsenal and Manchester United, was tipped to move away from the Philips Stadion during the summer transfer window.

However, Wijnaldum stayed put at PSV and has thus far scored three goals in 13 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie side this term.

But the Netherlands international, whose contract with PSV runs until 2018, explained that he is at the right age to ply his trade abroad now and is wary of remaining in his homeland for too long.

"Next summer would be a great time to take the next step", he told De Telegraaf.

"PSV also know that I am keen to play abroad. I am the age for it.

“Although I like it here, I do not want to become too old to go abroad, because I want to play there for a few years.

“The more time I take in going, the shorter my career abroad becomes.”

Wijnaldum, who admitted that he shares a good relationship with PSV, further added that he wishes to make his current employers the champions of Holland before leaving next summer.

"First I want to be champion with PSV, and I will fight for it”, he continued.

"If a club have been good to you and have always been there for you, I feel obliged to do me something in return for that club. I therefore do not wish to leave PSV straight away.”
