Celtic manager Ronny Deila has struggled to contain his delight at John Guidetti after the Swede hit a hat-trick in a 6-0 thumping of Partick Thistle in the League Cup at Celtic Park this evening.

Guidetti, on loan at Celtic from Manchester City, got the party started in the 31st minute when he opened the scoring for the Bhoys, stroking home a superb free-kick.

The visitors had Stuart Bannigan sent off just before half-time, and 1-0 was the scoreline at the break.

Emilio Izaguirre doubled Celtic's lead in the 48th minute, leading to the floodgates well and truly opening.

Guidetti (52nd and 56th minutes), one another free-kick and the other a penalty, completed his hat-trick, while Leigh Griffiths, on off the bench, bagged a brace to complete a memorable night for the Glasgow giants.

And Deila struggled to contain his glee at the summer signing that is Guidetti.

"He was fantastic!", Deila told a press conference.

"If you can score every time you get a free-kick outside the box then it's going to be good!", he added, in reference to Guidetti's first two goals being well-taken free-kicks; his third was a penalty.

"He has done it three times for us now and he did it for the national team as well, so it's his speciality."
