Celtic winger Aleksandar Tonev has been slapped with a seven-match ban by the Scottish Football Association.

The ban is punishment for racially abusing Aberdeen defender Shay Logan when the two sides locked horns last month in a Scottish Premiership match which Celtic won 2-1.

Tonev, who is on loan at Celtic from Aston Villa, will now be unavailable for selection for Bhoys manager Ronny Deila for seven matches.

The Scottish Football Association found Tonev guilty of "the use of offensive, insulting and abusive language of a racist nature."

Tonev signed for Aston Villa last year, joining from Lech Poznan, but struggled to make an impact at Villa Park.

He was shipped to Celtic on loan this summer.
