Carlo Ancelotti has lauded Cornella’s performance against Real Madrid last night in the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie.

A brace from Raphael Varane and goals from Javier Hernandez and Marcelo helped Real Madrid to beat the Spanish third tier outfit 4-1 at the Estadio Municipal de la Via Ferria.

But the Real Madrid manager praised the brave performance of the minnows and feels that they deserved their goal on the night.

“They played seriously”, Ancelotti was quoted as saying by AS.

“They did really well and imposed themselves on us, I’m happy for the work they did and Cornella deserved to score, it was deserved.”
