Real Madrid custodian Iker Casillas insists that winning the FIFA Club World Cup would complete a phenomenal year for his club.

The Spanish giants won their 10th European Cup this year by beating cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final in May.

As far as their new season progress is concerned, Los Blancos are right on track, making themselves clear favourites to go through to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey by having won the first leg of their tie against Cornella yesterday.

In the Champions League, the Spanish giants are the favourites to go through to the next round with Carlo Ancelotti's team being placed at the top of Group B with nine points from three matches.

Casillas though insists that winning the Club World Cup would be the icing on the cake for his team, who are otherwise having a wonderful 2014.

"The direction the team is going in is what we wanted from the off, and the aim is not worry about other sides", Casillas told his club's official site.

"We have to try to top La Liga before Christmas, which after beating Barcelona we have taken a huge step towards doing.

“We are on the right track to progressing to the next round in the Copa del Rey and we still have to seal our place in the Round of 16 in the Champions League, which we are very close to doing.

"Then we have the Club World Cup, a tournament we have earned our right to be in and which we think could be the icing on the cake for 2014, a phenomenal year so far. We have done a good job of keeping everyone happy”
