Walter Mazzarri has refused to pay heed to the Inter fans’ jeers directed towards him after his side’s win over Sampdoria last night.

Mauro Icardi converted a 90th penalty to win all three points for the Nerazzurri and condemn Sampdoria to their first defeat of the season.

The win meant Inter are sitting eighth in the Serie A table on 15 points, a point adrift of third-placed AC Milan and Champions League qualification.

The Inter manager was thrilled after his side ended Sampdoria’s unbeaten run this season, but feels that his team should have scored more with the opportunities they created.

"I think my team put in a great performance in terms of the football we played”, Mazzarri told Sky Italia.

"We’ve beaten a side that had not lost once this season. The only negative is that we couldn’t take more of our chances. At the end of the day, we’ve won. Hopefully we’re saving up the goals for the next match."

The Italian is under pressure for Inter’s lacklustre form this season and was even jeered by the fans at the San Siro during half-time last night.

But Mazzarri couldn’t care less and said that everyone has the right to form their own opinion about him.

"I didn’t hear them; I went straight into the dressing room so that I could think about how the team was doing and what we should do after the break. That’s why I didn’t hear any whistles.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I prefer to let my team and our points tally do the talking.”

Next Inter travel to Parma on Saturday, while Sampdoria host Fiorentina on Sunday.
