Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri was left hugely disappointed after his side slumped to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Genoa last night.

Just when it looked like the contest at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris was heading for a goalless draw, Luca Antonini scored in the fourth minute of injury-time to hand Juventus their first Serie A defeat of the season.

And Allegri, who criticised his charges for conceding a last-gasp goal, however feels the Bianconeri have the character to bounce back from the loss.

But the manager was quick to add that he does not want his side to commit similar mistakes in the future.

“I can only criticise my players for the last 30 seconds. Leagues are also won with draws and you can’t concede such a goal in the dying stages”, Allegri told the club’s official site.

“These types of games are there for the taking, but when you’re unable to get the win, they certainly cannot be lost.

“We had six on two for their goal and should have defended well, instead we were perhaps trying to win the ball back in order to go up the other end and score.

“We must take heed of tonight’s result and grow in maturity. The lads have character, technical ability, desire and intelligence.

“We need to take the positives out of tonight’s game in order to avoid committing more mistakes in the future.”

Despite the loss, Juventus still remain atop the Serie A standings with 22 points from nine games, level on points with second-placed Roma, whom they defeated 3-2 earlier in the month.
