Celtic boss Ronny Deila has struggled to contain his desire to sign John Guidetti on a permanent basis.

From reserve team football at Manchester City, the Swede is making a big impact in Scotland and has regularly been amongst the goals for Celtic since joining on loan this summer.

He hit an impressive hat-trick in a 6-0 League Cup drubbing against Partick Thistle earlier this week and Deila has already admitted the Bhoys want to try and keep the striker, whose contract with Manchester City expires in the summer.

"When he came there was a question mark because he'd been out for a long time and he hadn't played football regularly for two years", Deila explained to a press conference today.

"It has been a fantastic relationship so far. He wants to improve and he knows he can improve more as well.

"To improve he needs to play and here he gets the trust he needs.

"We hope this [keeping him] is something we can do on a permanent basis", Deila added.

Guidetti has already set about establishing himself as a firm fan favourite at Celtic Park and will be hoping to taste success with the Bhoys this term.
