Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Jack Wilshere will miss Arsenal's Premier League match against Burnley this weekend.

The Frenchman, who claims to be confident over the fitness of left-back Kieran Gibbs, is however sure that Wilshere will not face the Clarets.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Wenger said of Wilshere: "He got a kick on his knee.

"It is very, very short term."

While claiming to be "confident" over Gibbs being available, Wenger did admit that the defender "has a test" before he can be passed fit for the Premier League clash.

Arsenal head into the match at the Emirates Stadium on the back of a 2-0 win over Sunderland away from home last weekend.

For the Black Cats match Theo Walcott was on the bench – and Wenger again hinted that will be the role for the England international.

"Theo Walcott is not completely ready", he explained.

"He's been out for too long to start."
