Celtic boss Ronny Deila has provided injury updates on Derk Boerrigter and Kris Commons, ahead of his side’s Scottish Premiership fixture against Inverness CT tomorrow.

Dutch winger Boerrigter, who has made just three appearances for the Hoops this season, recently underwent surgery to cure a recurring knee problem.

The 28-year-old is expected to be sidelined for two months now, but Deila feels Boerrigter can improve as a player once he returns from his injury layoff.

“He has had some trouble with his knee and had an operation", the manager told the club’s official site.

“Something had been painful for a long time and he needed the operation to get it right, so he is going to be out for two months and hopefully when he comes back he will be totally fit and can improve as a player.”

However Commons, who has been suffering from a buttock injury, is close to returning to action for the Scottish champions.

But Deila insisted that he is still not sure whether the attacking midfielder will be ready to feature against Inverness at Celtic Park.

“Kris is close but we don’t know if he will be ready for Saturday or not”, he added.

“It’s an injury we won’t take any chances with as he’s an important player.
