Arsene Wenger is unhappy at UEFA's change to the way Champions League seedings for the group stage draw are worked out, as Arsenal threaten to not be amongst the top seeds next term.

UEFA want to give more weight to national champions, rather than results in Europe. And that means that if Arsenal fail to win the Premier League or the Champions League this season they will drop out of pot one.

Manchester City however, who have struggled in Europe but won the Premier League twice in the last three years, will find themselves in pot one if they again clinch the domestic title.

Wenger is unhappy with the changes, but has vowed not to put up a fight.

"I think yes [it is a surprise], because the logic is not respected. Logic for me is when you play in Europe, [you should be judged on] the results in Europe", he said via his club's site.

"I'm not really fighting it. Why? Because it will just make the seeding less interesting, because group one will have less significance. Will Maribor be in group one because they won the league, or in group two because they are in one of the second-best countries? After that, there's no hierarchy anymore in the groups.

"It's not needed, because it's a competition that works the best in the world and is the most admired and one that everybody wants to watch", the Arsenal boss continued.

"For me, I was quite surprised that they did that, but we'll see how it works. I think it will just make the seedings useless."
