Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has expressed his satisfaction with the performance of midfielder Marouane Fellaini post his return from injury.

The Belgian international returned to action for the Red Devils last week and contributed with his first goal in a red shirt in their match against West Bromwich Albion, which ended in a 2-2 draw.

The former Everton man was also behind the goal against Chelsea at Old Trafford last week and forced a save from Pensioners' custodian Thibaut Courtois before stand-in skipper Robin van Persie scored from the rebound to make it 1-1 for the hosts.

The Dutch manager therefore is visibly excited about the 26-year-old and insists that Fellaini has to continue with his form in order to help his team.

"He has made a great contribution and also the assist for the [Chelsea] goal", the 63-year-old told a press conference.

"He has had a lot of time out injured but when he is fit I have played him.

"He has to continue with that because then I am very pleased."

Van Gaal's team, who are currently placed eighth in the league, will play defending champions Manchester City next on Sunday.
