Incoming Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn does not believe the short-lived reign of bosses under owner Massimo Cellino should impact on his own fortunes in the post.

Cellino has parted ways with three managers since taking over at Leeds earlier this year, with the latest, Darko Milanic, lasting just 32 days in the job at Elland Road.

Redfearn is on the brink of being named as Milanic's official successor and the academy chief insists he has had assurances from Cellino about his importance to the Whites.

"Well, the big thing, the most important thing in the initial meeting was where he saw me in the bigger picture because the meetings I have had with him before have always been that I am his future. He sees me as the future of the club. Well, is that still the case and the answer is yes", Redfearn explained to LUTV.

"That's good enough for me. I've taken him on his word. He has never ever said any different before and that's reflected in my contract as regards, if for whatever reason things don't work out.

"So I'm pleased and I'm ready to go, but I really want to make a good fist of this. It's a time when the club needs putting back on track", he continued.

"It's exciting times for the club, I still believe that. There are always young players that I'm well aware of underneath and it gives us the chance to pull things together and draw things closer to one another at the football club. Bring the academy closer to the first team and then really kick on."

Redfearn also feels that Cellino's penchant for quickly sacking managers is of no concern, especially due to his close relationship with the Italian owner.

"What's happened, happened. That's happened. I mean it shouldn't have any bearing on how I'm viewed with him any way and that's the assurance I wanted to understand. Is that still the case? And he said yes that's still the case and he sees me as the future."
