Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has urged his side to put on a show against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Villains have lost their last five Premier League outings, with their latest disappointment coming in the form of a 2-0 loss at the hands of Queens Park Rangers on Monday.

And Lambert, who admitted that his side are currently enduring a difficult time, however called on Aston Villa to put in an improved display against Spurs at Villa Park.

But the manager was quick to add that Tottenham are a “top side” and insisted that the weekend’s fixture will be a tough contest.

"The five games we lost, especially against the top teams, were really difficult”, Lambert explained to the club’s official site.

"Monday night was really disappointing because we conceded goals that should have been prevented.

"But it's up to us to go and pick it up again on Sunday.

"I'm sure on Sunday we will come out here with a reaction. The confidence will be fine.

"It's a tough game, a really tough game. I thought Tottenham were a good team last year and nothing has changed my opinion this year.

"They are one of the top sides. But we are at home and we have to put a show on."

Aston Villa are currently 15th in the Premier League table with 10 points from nine games, four places and three points ahead of QPR.
