Leeds United must play without fear and develop a winning mentality – that is the view of the club's incoming boss Neil Redfearn.

The Whites surged to a run of three wins and one draw in four Championship games in charge when Redfearn held the reins in a temporary capacity earlier this season, but slipped to three draws and three defeats when Darko Milanic took over, the Slovenian paying with his post earlier this month.

Now Redfearn is back, and taking over permanently. And the former midfielder wants his side to play without fear, something essential to building a winning mentality.

"There is an old saying in football. If you're frightened something's going to happen, it will happen. So there has got to be no fear", Redfearn explained to LUTV.

"We have to go out there and be positive and we have to be aggressive about how we do it, in the right way with the ball and take teams to task."

And Redfearn, who preached a no fear mantra at the club's academy, accepts that on occasion things will go wrong for the first team. However, he feels they must always keep trying to win games.

"Listen, we will get it wrong sometimes and we will get beaten at odd games, but it's important that we go and try to win games.

"We've got the players to do it, we've proven that with the players that we've got at the club.

"We have got one or two different options, which is great, and we have got to give them that positive winning mentality."
