Brondby sporting director Per Rud has said that the purchase option demanded by Celtic for Teemu Pukki is an unrealistic figure.

The Danish side signed the 24-year-old from Celtic on a season-long loan deal on transfer deadline day.

Since arriving in Denmark, the striker has been nothing but impressive and has scored five goals in the last five matches for the club, including the winner in a weekend Superliga victory over Randers FC.

Brondby have the option of making the move permanent next summer and the club are keen to make the deal happen.

But Rud said that the purchase option on Pukki is unrealistically high and said they wouldn’t have agreed to the deal if they would have known about the figure.

“Had we already known that behind the contract the purchase price of Teemu was so unrealistically high we wouldn't have done it”, Rud told BT.

Brondby have already paid a third of the purchase option, but will still need to pay around £630,000 to secure Pukki on a permanent transfer.

Pukki has earned 35 international caps for Finland and joined Celtic from Schalke.
