Luis Suarez finds it strange that he has been left out of the 23-man shortlist for FIFA’s Ballon d’Or.

Football’s governing body announced the names of 23 men last week for the Footballer of the Year award, scheduled to be held early next year.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Angel di Maria and Gareth Bale feature on the list of players nominated for the award.

But the Uruguayan striker has been omitted from the list, despite scoring 31 goals for Liverpool last season and winning the PFA Player of the Year and the FWA Player of the Year awards.

Suarez played a crucial role in Liverpool coming close to ending their 24-year league title drought and scoring over 100 goals.

The Uruguayan meanwhile joined Barcelona in the summer and received a suspension from FIFA for biting Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup.

Suarez finds the decision to omit him from the list strange, but is not ready to start another controversy by saying something untoward.

"It's strange that that I'm not on the list”, the Uruguayan told RAC1.

“But I prefer to keep quiet and not get into bother."
