Fringe Manchester United star Anderson is flirting with the possibility of heading back to Brazil to join boyhood club Gremio.

Anderson, who spent the latter half of last term on loan at Fiorentina in Italy, is firmly out of favour with current Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.

It has even been speculated that Manchester United could cancel Anderson's contract and release him on a free transfer.

And the midfielder is open to the possibility of returning to his first club in football, Gremio.

"Returning to Gremio is always a possibility", he explained to Radio Bandeirantes.

"It's my home and I still monitor them.

"Everyone knows that.

"I want to be close to my family and I've talked with Gremio before, but it wasn't ever concrete."

But while Gremio would find favour with Anderson were they to make an offer, the 26-year-old is keen not to discourage other Brazilian sides from making an approach.

"I respect all Brazilian clubs", said the midfielder.
