Midfielder Moussa Dembele admits he has no idea why he has slipped out of the starting eleven picture at Tottenham Hotspur, but stressed he is keen to remain positive regardless.

Dembele has slipped to the bench at White Hart Lane for Premier League fixtures, with boss Mauricio Pochettino preferring to instead deploy the Belgian for cup and European games.

Dembele is unused to being overlooked at Spurs and admits he has pondered about why he has been dropped to the fringes, claiming he has no idea why such a fate has befallen him.

"The situation at Tottenham is new to me", he was quoted as saying by Sporza.

"I've got no explanation for it, but I'm quite positive. I do not feel out of shape or that I've been performing poorly."

And Dembele, who has reported for international duty with Belgium, is looking forward to earning playing time with the Red Devils, starting with tomorrow's friendly against Iceland.

"I need matches", the midfielder said.

"The game against Iceland is coming at the right time and friendly games should always be treated properly."

For the midfielder, when he returns to White Hart Lane, he will seek to impress Pochettino whenever given the opportunity.

"I will keep fighting for my chance.

"So, for now, in the Europa League, where I want to impress the coach. I won't give up. I just need to be here. It can all change quickly."
