Southampton winger Sadio Mane has insisted that his side have the potential to continue remaining towards the top end of the Premier League table.

Despite losing a number of key players and manager Mauricio Pochettino in the summer, the Saints have made spirited start to their 2014/15 campaign under new boss Ronald Koeman.

Southampton, who defeated Leicester City 2-0 at the weekend, are currently second in the Premier League with 25 points from 11 games, just four adrift of leaders Chelsea.

And Mane is confident about the St Mary's Stadium outfit holding their position in the Premier League, despite admitting it will be tough.

“I hope and I am confident that we can hold this pace and level of playing football", he told FIFA’s official site.

"Obviously, in the Premier League there are always the three, four or five big teams which can be found at the top of the table, but I am glad that so far, there are some teams up there that could be called a little surprise, including us.

"However, we have to stay realistic. It will be hard to remain where we are today. We will give our best to defend this place, and I have no doubt we have the potential and will."

Southampton, who have thus far conceded just five goals in the Premier League this season, the lowest in the division, will next take on Aston Villa on 24th November.
