Former Chelsea and Monaco manager Claudio Ranieri is set to depart his job as Greece coach following the country's humiliating 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying home defeat to the Faroe Islands last night.

A 61st minute goal from Joan Edmundsson was a mountain the Greeks could not climb and the Faroe Islands picked up their first competitive win since a 2011 victory over Estonia.

Greece and Ranieri were left reeling and the Italian is expected to lead the country for the last time in their friendly on Tuesday against Serbia.

The defeat leaves Greece sitting bottom of Group F on just one point after four games and with their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2016 in severe doubt.
