AS Roma are eyeing a move for Tottenham Hotspur and France number one Hugo Lloris next summer.

Roma’s first choice goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis’ contract is set to expire at the end of the season and even if he signs a new deal, the club will be looking to sign a new number one.

The Giallorossi are extensively scouring the market to sign a top class shot-stopper next summer and a number of goalkeepers are on their shortlist.

But Lloris is the first name on that list and Roma are keen to sign the French number from Tottenham, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The France number one is considered one of the top goalkeepers in the world and a key member of the Spurs squad, but Roma are hopeful that a deal can be agreed.

Tottenham are highly unlikely to part with the France number one without tough resistance, but Roma’s trump card in the deal might be Champions League football.

If Tottenham fail to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition next season again, Lloris might find it hard to turn down suitors who could offer Champions League football and Roma are well placed to qualify again next term.
